Im still really enjoying Big Dogz! What are some of your favorite songs on the album? Mine are Time and tide, and I really Love sleeptalker. The naz really rocks on big Dogz, I love the guitar on Time and tide, just a real catchy tune.I wonder if the new album will be along the same lines as Big Dogz and the newz...Harder edge, The Naz never dissapoint. Are there very many Nazmaniacs that just exclusively listen to Nazareth? Im in that category, I hardly listen to anyone else, just Nazareth for me! I can listen to an entire cd over and over again, never gets old to me.Right now , for the past couple of days,Its been "Play'n'the Game. Somebody to roll...Just incredible song, and Flying is killer! but the song with Dans killer vocals is I dont want to go on without you, just a haunting song, just perfect, The next cd? I dont know, I just close my eyes and grab one, and thats the one I start listening too. Any naz cd is just pure listening pleasure! Ron

Claimed is my favourite now (even though I didn't like it much at first) with Time and Tide close behind. I listen probably around 50/50 to Nazareth and others. And I usually do it in waves - say two weeks to Nazareth, two weeks to others, making sure not to overdose the pleasure... :-)

Time and Tide is a great song! It is also one of my favorite songs from Big Dogz!
Listen to Nazareth almost every day! But in general, I listen to bands from -60-70 and -80! :)

Funny how different taste can be - to me "Time and tide" is not that much my cup of tea. My 100 % gem of Big Dogz is "When Jesus comes to save the world again". Also "Lifeboat" is one of my all times Naz favorite tracks.

I also love the new track "God lf the mountain" - it was time again for a fast rock-n-roller a la "Razamanaz". Hope it will be on the new album.

I have to admit that 'Big Dogz' isn't one of My favourite albums by Naz.
Butterfly is the highlight of the album in My opinion. Love Dan's vocals and the Piano playing.

Looking forward to the next album though! :)
Here's hoping for a few more 3 min Rock'N'Rollers á la Classic Nazareth.
They have a tendency to write too long songs these days.

Hi Ron!
I really like 'See Me' and 'Dying Breed' from The Newz. And as I mentioned, the brilliant 'Butterfly' from Big Dogz. Great songs with good melodies. Carrying the great legacy of the music of Nazareth.
My problem with the latest Naz albums are pretty much the arrangements of some songs. Long sections within the songs that don't do anything - just a big transportation to finally get to the interesting stuff again.
I'm often losing interest quite frankly. 6 to 7 min songs that easily could've been boiled down to 4 min songs.
It's almost like they are experimenting in the studio, adding some not so relevant bits and sections here and there just because they can.

I guess Nazareth are writing the songs they can at this stage in their career. Some may like it more than others.

The Catch was a bit of an experimental album where they tested out the latest digital gadgets in the studio. It could've turned out a smash hit. ...But it didn't. Lots of fans scratching their heads to that one.... ;) Some great songs on it though. As all Nazareth albums have!.

Not sure I made any sence here. It's hard to describe music generally. All you can do is to follow your gut feeling.

Cheers!

I agree with Higginz with regards to some arrangements on The Newz, I think Going Loco, Liar & Enough Love would sound better if they were 2 minutes shorter. Big Dogz though in my opinion is pretty much flawless and I love how it sounds on vinyl (so much better than the CD!).

Still hope to get The Newz on vinyl, if I'd of known at the time of release it'd been limited to just 50 copies I would have bought one immediately!
