Yeez... this turned out to be a sad day for Rock n Roll...
As Guenter rightly says, we all know that this day inevitably would come, but what a shock to the system to hear this nevertheless.
Too early to write a tribute at this stage, cause my brain is in a mess... but:
Dan, through more than 40 years in the business, you have built up a following worldwide that will be hard to beat - by anyone. You are without doubt one of the truly great singers of your generation - right up there among the best in the world. For me you are, and will always be, the best. So, for that reason alone, the announcement of your retirement is immensely sad to hear.
Add to that the personal dimension in all this. -I am 39 yrs old - and Nazareth / Dan's voice has been a constant presence in my life. Like so many here on the forum, his awesome voice has been with me through heartaches, loss, anger, happiness and everything...
So at this point, I would like to thank you Dan, for the many years of wonderful music, for the amazing performances, the great albums, singles, the touring, taking time to meet us fans, signing autographs. The list can go on, and on.
Even though, last time I offered you a drink you turned it down, but it was only because you had about 100 other people in that bar who wanted to buy you a drink.. -somewhat of a tribute in itself!
Thank you for the many years of providing inspiration, enjoyment, and listening pleasure.
Thank you, thank you, thank you,
